Mission Statement
Glenville State College is committed to educating students
to be thoughtful, productive, engaged and responsible
citizens. The faculty and staff of the Bachelor of Behavioral
Science in Criminal Justice zealously pursue this commitment
by providing opportunities for extensive study, practical
experience, and challenging discussion of the myriad
of societal issues professionals in the field of criminal
justice encounter.
Goals
A graduate of the program can:
- Successfully pursue a career in the field of Criminal
Justice including law enforcement, corrections,
and juvenile justice.
- Successfully enter, and succeed in a progressive
degree program including graduate and law school.
Objectives
A graduate of the program will:
- Comprehend the challenges of crime and justice
in today’s society.
- Have a thorough knowledge of the management of
the Criminal Justice System, including the areas
of Police, Courts, Corrections, Ethics and Criminology.
- Have a thorough understanding of the role of the
criminal justice professional in the fields of law
enforcement, corrections, and the courts.
- Have a working knowledge and understanding of
the complex progression of the criminal court process
from the early stages of crime scene investigation
and arrest through the multiple stages of prosecution,
trial, sentencing and appeals.
- Understand the role played by a Criminal Justice
Professional in today’s global society.
- Understand the necessity of a successful Criminal
Justice Professional to be tolerant, fair, and responsible
to the citizens they serve.
