Criminal Justice Summer Camp

This camp is held in June of every year and is funded by our DOJ grant. Each year the college will accept 40 seniors, juniors, or sophomores as students to participate in the week long camp. The camp will be taught by former police detective Dr. Jami Myers and Dr. Mack Cavendish and current West Virginia State Police Officer, Robert Smith. During the week students will learn theology of crime and laws. They will have hands on experience with investigations such as fingerprinting, use of chemical enhancement for trace evidence, casting/molding, photography, interviewing suspects, collecting evidence, ballistics and much much more. This will give those interested in seeking a career in the criminal justice field a chance to see what they are up against if they were to follow their dream. Students will also get to visit the campus and surrounding areas. The camp is free to those who are accepted. Only the cost of transportation is required by the student. Those who are accepted will also want to bring toiletries and bed sheets for a twin size bed. The camp will be held this year from June 23rd through June 27th. Students will also need to complete the application which includes a letter of recommendation from a teacher or law enforcement official.

We look forward to seeing you this summer in hopes of showing you just how interesting, challenging, and rewarding a career in criminal justice can be.
