Internships are offered to for both two and four year degree majors. CJ 297 is for our Associate program and is required. CJ 497 is the Bachelor’s internship and at this time is voluntary.
Internships are a valuable tool for the student to explore new career fields before devoting your life to one. It gives the student the opportunity to see what that particular job has to offer and if it interests them to pursue that career path. Internships are not for the light hearted. You must have a 3.0 GPA and be either a junior or a senior if in the four year program.
Positions do vary from many agencies but the spaces that are available are limited. We currently have internships available with the following agencies: West Virginia State Police, Internet Crime Complaint Center, National White Collar Crimes Center, NCFTA, FBI, U.S. Marshall Service, Probations, Regional Jails, Juvenile Facilities, Sheriff’s Office, Wal-Mart, and many more local and private agencies. Most are not paid but there are a few that are paid internships.
If you have any questions about internships or you are an agency that would like to sign up with the college to have interns work with you, please contact Dr. J. Mack Cavendish at (304) 462-7361 ext. 7276 or mack.cavendish@glenville.edu.
