Mission Statement

The mission of the Glenville State College Intramural Program is to provide a variety of recreational activities selected on the basis of their contribution to the development of the whole individual; physically, socially, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.

The program strives to provide programming for all levels of ability and experience. Our aim is to serve the recreational needs of the majority of the student body and not just the athletic minority. A competitive spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship is encouraged in order to provide all with a quality recreational experience.
This evolving philosophy is to provide students, faculty, and staff with a program of recreational events and experiences, and is grounded in the basic belief that:

  1. Students, faculty and staff need to be encouraged toward active recreation that enriches their lives.
  2. It is an educational responsibility of a modern college to promote an intramural program to broaden the entire university community’s experience.
  3. The entire GSC community, regardless of sex, race, color, creed or organizational affiliation should have the privilege to participate.
  4. An intramural program should be fun, fair and safe.
