Military Career Path

Staff Sergeant James Vaught enlisted into the West Virginia Army National Guard in 2005. His first assignment was a Bradley Gunner for C Troop 1st 1/150th ARS. Staff Sergeant Vaught deployed to Iraq in 2009-2010 with C Troop 1st 1/150th ARS, where he was a Scout Dismounted Team Leader. Staff Sergeant Vaught is an instructor for the Long Range Advanced Scout System, Dagger System and a Master Resilience Trainer (MRT). Staff Sergeant Vaught currently serves as a Truck Commander for B Troop 1st 1/150th ARS. Here at Glenville State College, Staff Sergeant Vaught is assigned as the administrative Non-Commissioned Officer for the Army ROTC program.


Staff Sergeant James Vaught is the son of a retired Marine. Staff Sergeant Vaught was born in Roanoke Va. He is has been married for 17 years to his wife Rene and has four children: three daughters and one son.
