Education and Military Training

Sergeant Larry Thomas is a native of West Virginia. He has studied Leadership and Business Science at Mountain State University as well as the University of Charleston. His military education includes Rotor Wing Avionics Mechanic, Basic Electronics, Supply Specialist, Haz Mat, several driver’s courses, Basic and Advanced Close Quarters Marksman, Squad Designated Marksman, Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Course, Warrior Leaders Course, and Officer Candidate School Phases I & II.

Military Career Path

SGT Thomas joined the West Virginia Army National Guard (WVARNG) in 2006. He has been an active member for the West Virginia National Guard Chemical, Biological, Radiological/Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) – Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP), WVARNG United States Property & Fiscal Office (USPFO), and Recruiting and Retention Command. SGT Thomas has deployed to Iraq with the 111th Engineer Brigade during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2007-2008, and to Kuwait with the 1-201st Field Artillery Battalion 2010-2011. SGT Thomas has also served with the 146th MEDEVAC Company, 2nd Battalion 19th Special Forces Group, and is currently an Office Candidate and will Commission as an Engineer Officer Spring 2014. He is currently detailed to the Glenville State College Army ROTC program.
