NASA logo Glenville State College was awarded a grant from NASA in 2006 to enhance the Science Technology Engineering & Math (STEM) Initiative in West Virginia. The primary objectives are to recruit students to pursue a career in the STEM disciplines and develop a science research workforce. To accomplish these goals, we have purchased additional research instrumentation, Pasco equipment, and video conferencing equipment. In addition to using the research instrumentation in our college courses, secondary science teachers and students have access to this instrumentation. Teachers that participated in the Summer Institute were trained on how to use and incorporate the Pasco equipment into laboratory activities for their classes and may borrow the equipment for short term projects. Video conferencing equipment has been installed in high school classrooms to enhance communications between the college and high schools.
