The following guidelines should be followed when using the computer labs.

Safety/Security

  • Drinks and/or food are not permitted in the labs.
  • Students must exit the labs by the posted closing times.
  • If equipment is not functioning properly, DO NOT attempt to fix it yourself. Please ask for assistance.
  • Children are not permitted in the labs at any time.

User Responsibilities

  • Students are authorized to use the computing facilities only for completing required course assignments. All other use is prohibited unless prior permission is received from the Office of Technology.
  • No game playing at any time.
  • Do not tamper with the hard drive on any machine or attempt to break the system's security mechanism.
  • Do not attempt to copy any other student's work and/or copy any of the software available in the labs. This is copyright infringement and subject to disciplinary action.
  • It is your responsibility to bring the proper disk with you when you come to the labs. Check with your instructor to find out what type of disk you need to complete your assignments.
  • All storage devices (USB) must be scanned for viruses before they can be used in the labs.
  • Chat lines are only to be used for class assignments. Excessive use of chat lines is not permitted.
  • Unacceptable use of the internet by users includes, but is not limited to:
    • Sending or posting discriminatory, harassing, or threatening messages or images on the Internet or via Glenville State College’s email service
    • Using computers to perpetrate any form of fraud, and/or software, film or music piracy
    • Stealing, using, or disclosing someone else's password without authorization
    • Downloading, copying or pirating software and electronic files that are copyrighted or without authorization
    • Sharing confidential material, or proprietary information outside of the organization
    • Hacking into unauthorized websites
    • Introducing malicious software onto the company network and/or jeopardizing the security of the organization's electronic communications systems
    • Sending or posting chain letters, solicitations, or advertisements not related to business purposes or activities
    • Passing off personal views as representing those of the organization

Failure to comply with the above guidelines may result in the immediate loss of all lab privileges.

Lab Locations

AB 309B Ernie Smith Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This is our lab for the Academic Business Department, made up of 28 computer stations plus an instructor station connected to a data projector and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2013, Adobe Suite, Visual Studio 2013, Perl development software, and a network printer. As well as, a teaching station connected to a projector and document camera and sound.
AB 309A Education Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This is our lab for the Teacher Education Department, made up of 26 computer stations plus an instructor station connected to a data projector and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2013, Chalk waves media, Turning Point student responders, Adobe Master Collection on select computers, and a network printer. As well as, a teaching station connected to a projector and document camera and sound.
Academic Support Lab
This lab is open from 8am to 4pm to assist students in the Academic Support Services program. It is used for tutoring, developmental studies, placement testing as well as assessment testing.
Center for Teaching Excellence Lab
This lab is open only for our Faculty and Staff for training, and cross training. The lab is made up of 16 stations, 4 of them laptops, plus an instructor station connected to a Smartboard, document camera, and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2013, Banner, Resilient Planet, Google Earth, and Webcams with microphones, and digitizer pads. As well as a teaching station connected to a Smartboard, document camera, and sound.
Land Resources Lab
This lab contains 24 work stations running Windows 7, Office 2013, Carlson, ArcGIS, Geoviewer, AutoCAD, Google Earth, and ISISDraw. As well as a teaching station connected to a large screen LED monitor, document camera, and sound.
Robert F. Kidd Library Lab
This lab is open for general use during library hours. There are 45 stations with a mixture of Windows XP and Windows 7. All machines have Office 2013, Geometer’s Sketchpad and are connected to two network printers.
Fine Arts Piano Lab
This lab is open for use by Music Majors. There are 9 stations plus and instructor station. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2013, and Finale 2012 and are connected to a printer.
Science Hall Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This lab is for our Science Department and is made up of 24 stations plus an instructor station connected to mounted data projector, document camera, and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2013, Geometer’s Sketchpad, and a variety of Science and Math related software. As well as, a teaching station connected to a projector, document camera, and sound.
Science Hall Physics Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This lab is for use by our Physical Sciences students. The lab is made up of 12 stations plus an instructor station connected to mounted data projector, document camera, and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2013, Geometer’s Sketchpad, and a variety of Science and Math related software. As well as, a teaching station connected to a projector, document camera, and sound.
Student Support Services Lab
This lab is open from 8am to 4pm to assist students in the Student Support Services program. It is used for tutoring and developmental studies.
Morris Criminal Justice Training Center Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. The proposed use of this lab is for our Criminal Justice and Computer Science majors. This lab is made up of 20 stations, room for 20 laptops, plus an instructor station connected to a Smartboard, document camera, and sound.
Heflin Administrative Building Classrooms
There are three classrooms outfitted with a teaching station connected to 3M interactive whiteboards, PC, DVD/VHS, sound system, and document camera. Two classrooms are fitted with mounted data projectors, PC, sound system, and document camera. There are 4 classrooms that have Smartboards, PC, document cameras, and sound systems. The Presidents’ Auditorium has a mounted data projector, DVD/VHS, and sound system.
Clark Hall
There are six classrooms outfitted with teaching stations connected to Smartboards, PC, document camera, and sound system. One classroom contains a teaching station connected to a dual screen projector system, document camera, and sound.
Fine Arts
There is one classroom outfitted with a teaching station, mounted projector, PC, document camera, DVD/VHS, and sound system and one classroom outfitted with a teaching station, Smartboard, document camera, and sound system. One classroom is fitted with a portable projector and laptop. The Percussion rehearsal hall contains a mounted Smart TV, webcam, Apple TV, and sound.
Land Resources Waco Center
All classroom teaching stations are connected to a large screen LED monitor, document camera, and sound.
Physical Education
There is one classroom outfitted with a teaching station, Smartboard, PC, document camera, and sound system. The other two classrooms have a large plasma display for laptop connection.
Mollohan Center
There are two large multipurpose rooms, one with stadium seating and one in the cyber café. These rooms both have data projectors, DVD/VHS, satellite TV, and sound systems. A portable Smartboards is also available for conferences and training.
Science Hall
There are six classrooms outfitted with teaching stations, mounted projectors, PC, document camera, DVD/VHS, and sound.
