The following guidelines should be followed when using the computer labs.

Safety/Security

  • Drinks and/or food are not permitted in the labs.
  • Students must exit the labs by the posted closing times.
  • If equipment is not functioning properly, DO NOT attempt to fix it yourself. Please ask for assistance.
  • Children are not permitted in the labs at any time.

User Responsibilities

  • No viewing of pornographic material is allowed at any time.
  • Students are authorized to use the computing facilities only for completing required course assignments. All other use is prohibited unless prior permission is received from the Office of Technology.
  • No game playing at any time.
  • Do not tamper with the hard drive on any machine or attempt to break the system's security mechanism.
  • Do not attempt to copy any other student's work and/or copy any of the software available in the labs. This is copyright infringement and subject to disciplinary action.
  • It is your responsibility to bring the proper disk with you when you come to the labs. Check with your instructor to find out what type of disk you need to complete your assignments.
  • All storage devices (diskettes, USB) must be scanned for viruses before they can be used in the labs.
  • Chat lines are only to be used for class assignments. Excessive use of chat lines is not permitted.
  • No audio (music) disks are permitted in the labs' computer systems.

Failure to comply with the above guidelines may result in the immediate loss of all lab privileges. Glenville State College adheres to the WVNET computer abuse policy.

Lab Locations

Academic Support Lab
This lab is open from 8am to 4pm to assist students in the Student Support Services program. It is used for tutoring, developmental studies, placement testing as well as assessment testing. There are 15 computers running Windows XP and Office 2010 with a network printer.
Ernie Smith Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This is our lab for the Academic Business Department, made up of 28 computer stations plus an instructor station connected to a data projector and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2010, Adobe Design Suite, Visual Studio 2010, Perl development software, and a network printer.
Education Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This is our lab for the Teacher Education Department, made up of 26 computer stations plus an instructor station connected to a data projector and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2010, Chalkwaves media, Turning Point student responders, and a network printer.
Robert F. Kidd Library Lab
This lab is open for general use during library hours. There are 40 stations with a mixture of Windows XP and Windows 7. All machines have Office 2010, Geometer’s Sketchpad and are connected to two network printers.
Fine Arts Piano Lab
This lab is open for use by Music Majors. There are 9 stations plus and instructor station. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2007, Finale 2010 and are connected to a printer.
Science Hall General Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This lab is for our Science Department and is made up of 24 stations plus an instructor station connected to mounted data projector, document camera, and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2010, Geometer’s Sketchpad, and a variety of Science and Math related software.
Science Hall Physics Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. This lab is for use by our Physical Sciences students. The lab is made up of 12 stations plus an instructor station connected to mounted data projector, document camera, and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2010, Geometer’s Sketchpad, and a variety of Science and Math related software.
Center for Teaching Excellence Lab
This lab is open only for our Faculty and Staff for training, and cross training. The lab is made up of 16 stations, 4 of them laptops, plus an instructor station connected to a SmartBoard, document camera, and sound system. These machines have Windows 7, Office 2010, Wimba Pronto, iTunes, Banner, FIMS, Resilient Planet, Google Earth, WebCams with microphones, digitizer pads, and network printer.
Morris Criminal Justice Training Center Lab
This lab is open for classroom use only. The proposed use of this lab is for our Criminal Justice and Computer Science majors. This lab is made up of 20 stations, room for 20 laptops, plus an instructor station connected to a SmartBoard, document camera, and sound system.
Heflin Administrative Building Classrooms
There are three classrooms outfitted with a 3M interactive whiteboards, PC, DVD/VHS, sound system, and document camera. Two classrooms are fitted with mounted data projectors, PC, sound system, and document camera. There are 4 classrooms that have SmartBoards, PC, document cameras, and sound systems. The Presidents’ Auditorium has a mounted data projector, DVD/VHS, and sound system.
Clark Hall
There are six classrooms outfitted with SmartBoards, PC, document camera, and sound system.
Science Hall
There are six classrooms outfitted with mounted projectors, PC, document camera, DVD/VHS, and sound system.
Fine Arts
There is one classroom outfitted with a mounted projector, PC, document camera, DVD/VHS, and sound system and one classroom outfitted with a SmartBoard, PC, document camera, and sound system.
Land Resources
This lab contains 24 work stations running Windows 7.
Physical Education Building
There is one classroom outfitted with a SmartBoard, PC, document camera, and sound system.
Mollohan Center
There are two large multipurpose rooms, one with stadium seating and one in the cyber café. These rooms both have data projectors, DVD/VHS, satellite TV, and sound systems. A portable SmartBoard is also available for conferences and training.
Office of Technology available for checkout
The Office has two data projectors and five Dell mini laptops available for checkout for a limited time.
