Swimming Lessons Being Held at GSC

Swimming lessons soon will be held at Glenville State College for local residents. Sign-ups will take place Tuesday, June 17th, Wednesday, June 18th, and Thursday, June 19th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the GSC Pool, located in the basement of the Physical Education Building. Student swimming abilities will be tested during sign-ups.

GSC ROTC Cadets Participate in Battle of Bulltown Staff Ride

Members of the Glenville State College Army ROTC program recently took part in a ‘Staff Ride’ at the Bulltown Historic Area located in Braxton County, West Virginia. A Staff Ride is an opportunity for members of a military organization to study historic operations and apply current principles, while fostering a sense of camaraderie with their brethren of the past.

Incoming Freshmen Invited to Register at GSC

Incoming Glenville State College freshmen, who will be members of the Class of 2018, are invited to complete their course registrations on Saturday, June 21st at GSC’s Registration Day. The day’s activities begin at 9:00 a.m. with a check in and continental breakfast in the Land Resources Area of GSC’s new Waco Center.

Robert ‘Goat’ Hensley, a junior from Dundalk, Maryland, has been named the Glenville State College Pioneer Mascot for the 2014-2015 school year.

GSC Spring 2014 President’s Honor List Announced

Glenville State College’s Spring 2014 President’s Honor List has been announced. To be named to the GSC President’s Honor Roll, students must have a 4.0 grade point average and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

GSC Spring 2014 Provost’s Honor List Announced

Glenville State College’s Spring 2014 Provost’s Honor List has been announced. To be named to the GSC Provost’s Honor Roll, students must have grade point averages between 3.5 and 3.9 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

GSC Fitness Center Organizing 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run and Fastest Kid in Town Contest

The 5K Walk/Run will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the Fastest Kid in Town contest will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21st. Both events will start in downtown Glenville during the annual West Virginia State Folk Festival, which takes place Thursday, June 19th through Sunday, June 22nd.

DeMatteo Receives GSC Faculty Award of Excellence

Glenville State College Professor of History Dr. Art DeMatteo is the 2014 recipient of the GSC Faculty Award of Excellence. DeMatteo, who has worked at GSC for ten years, received the award at the 140th GSC Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 10th.

GSC Class of 2014 Receives Their Diplomas; Rust Delivers Keynote Address

The Glenville State College Class of 2014 includes graduates who completed requirements for an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a variety of academic areas including business, criminal justice, teacher education, and natural resource management among others. The GSC Class of 2014 is made up of more than 220 students who completed their degree requirements in July 2013, December 2013, and May 2014.

Largest Class of GSC Hidden Promise Scholars Graduate

Thirteen Hidden Promise Scholars graduating from Glenville State College were the guests of honor at a dinner held on Friday, April 30th in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. GSC President Dr. Peter Barr who first envisioned the Hidden Promise Scholars (HPS) program in 2006, presented commemorative plaques and Hidden Promise Scholars class rings in honor of their achievement.
