Students in Glenville State College’s theatre group are gearing up for ‘Antigone,’ their first production of the spring semester.
Free assistance is being offered again through a Glenville State College accounting course to help students, faculty, staff, and local residents file their basic federal and West Virginia income tax returns. Two options are available to qualifying taxpayers – ‘MyFreeTaxes’ and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Free File.
Delta Education, a business that believes in the importance of inquiry-based, hands-on science teaching methods, is sponsoring two free presentations at Glenville State College for current and future educators, school administrators, and the general public.
Ken Kuhl, Vice President of Event Development at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas and a 1982 Glenville State College graduate, is returning to his alma mater on Tuesday, February 24th to deliver a presentation about his background, education, and work experience. The 50-minute presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m. in GSC’s Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
Guest artist Dr. George Palton will be visiting Glenville State College on Wednesday, February 18th to perform a tuba recital in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
Glenville State College student vocalist Renee Ritenour will be performing her senior recital on Saturday, February 14th at 4:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium.

Glenville State College Financial Aid employees are again hosting College Goal Sunday, on Sunday, February 15th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Robert F. Kidd Library. The event allows students and families to receive free, confidential support in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). GSC’s event will be one of twenty-four similar workshops held across the Mountain State.
Local artists and writers still have time to submit items for the 2015 issue of the Trillium, Glenville State College’s literary arts journal. The Trillium is a collection of artwork, poetry, fiction, song lyrics, and other forms of creative expression.
The Glenville State College Land Resource Department recently was awarded its third grant from the Weyerhaeuser Company to purchase forestry tools to be used in GSC’s Forest Technology program. This year’s grant follows those awarded in 2011 and 2012, and will be used to purchase a laser dendrometer, a device used when estimating the area and volume of a forested plot.
