GSC TV is now on the air for Shentel Cable TV customers. The new Glenville State College channel focuses on academics and athletics at GSC and is a part of Shentel’s cable lineup for digital subscribers throughout West Virginia. Shentel customers can find GSC TV on Channel 182.
The Glenville State College Department of Fine Arts is proud to announce its 2014 Music Fest in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14th.
Two Glenville State College seniors have upcoming recitals planned in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Seth Stemple will perform his senior recital on Sunday, November 16th at 3:00 p.m. and Courtney Cole will perform her senior recital on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:00 p.m.
Storyteller Karen Vuranch is bringing history to life at Glenville State College through her portrayal of historical activist, Mary Harris, in a presentation of ‘Mother Jones: A Presentation on the Life of Mary Harris’. The drama, which is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 315 of the Mollohan Campus Community Center, is made possible by a grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council and is being organized by the GSC Department of Social Science.
The Glenville State College theatre group is finalizing its fall production of ‘Mandate for Murder,’ which will take place for one night only on Thursday, November 13th in the Heflin Administration Building Presidents Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
Members of Glenville State College’s Early Education Student Group recently hosted a Trick or Reading Night for local children in PreK through second grades. Many local families attended the event held on Monday, October 20th and enjoyed the educational evening full of reading, activities, snacks, and costumes for children and parents.
Students from Dr. Ross Conover’s Ecology and Field Biology class, and other Glenville State College volunteers, spent nine wet hours hauling trash out of the Little Kanawha River recently. Members of the self-proclaimed ‘Little Kanawha Navy’ removed trash and debris from this section of the river last year as well.
Thanks in part to a West Virginia Humanities Council grant, staffers in the Glenville State College Archives have been working to digitize several old 8- and 16-mm films. Many of the films are available for viewing on the GSC website.
Members of the Glenville State College Student Veterans Association invite everyone to this year’s Veterans and Military Ball on Saturday, November 8th. The event is open to community members, students, faculty, and staff as they show their support for our veterans while enjoying a fun evening together.
Many say that the ghost of ‘Sis Linn’ haunts the GSC campus not only at Halloween, but also all year long.
