The holiday season has officially begun at Glenville State College. GSC President Dr. Peter Barr along with local children lit the official campus Christmas tree at the annual GSC Tree Lighting Ceremony. Many spectators from both GSC and the Glenville community attended the event on Monday, November 26th.
Glenville State College freshmen Curtis Sutphin was awarded second place in a vocal competition at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Conference on Saturday October 27, 2012 at West Virginia University.
The annual Glenville State College Choir and Chamber Singers Holiday Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, November 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Sand Fork Baptist Church in Sand Fork, West Virginia (Gilmer County). The evening will feature Christmas carols written from the 17th century until the 20th century as well as readings from students, faculty, and staff including GSC President Dr. Peter Barr.
Anita White, Glenville State College Adjunct Instructor of Piano and Department Accompanist, will be playing in a piano recital of classical hymns on Monday, November 12th. The annual event will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The event is free to the public.
The annual Glenville State College Jazz Band Concert is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The set will feature familiar classics by the Average White Band, Count Basie Band, Glen Miller Orchestra, and many more.
Glenville State College’s Ike & Sue Morris Stadium will be the site of the inaugural West Virginia Marching Band Invitational on Saturday, November 3rd.
