The photography of artist Ernie Bastin will be featured in an upcoming exhibit in the Glenville State College Spears Fine Arts Gallery.
Glenville State College Bluegrass Music major Robbie Mann will perform his Senior Fiddle Recital on Sunday, September 21st at 3:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
Tickets are on sale for the annual Glenville State College Bluegrass Band Concert scheduled during Homecoming Day 2014 on Saturday, October 11th in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:00 p.m. This year’s concert will feature Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top X-Press as guest performers.
A reception to recognize the works of award-winning artist, Arlinka Worl, was held on Monday, September 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Glenville State College Spears Fine Arts Gallery. Worl’s work will be featured until Friday, September 19th.
The August 30 Waco Center concert will begin with the band meeting fans and signing autographs from 6-6:45 p.m. Music is scheduled to start at 7. Students with an I.D. (from any school) will be admitted free of charge. Otherwise, the cover change is $10.
Bluegrass music major Toni Doman recently returned from a summer internship in Nashville, Tennessee with the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Doman, a senior from Cameron, WV, arranged her internship when visiting Nashville during a GSC-sponsored spring semester trip.
The Glenville State College Bluegrass Band was recently showcased in the July 2014 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. This nearly 50 year old publication circulates across the nation and is dedicated to preserving the culture and instilling traditions of the music.
The Glenville State College Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble, under the direction of GSC Assistant Professor of Music and Fine Arts Department Chair Lloyd E. Bone Jr., was recently invited to perform at the 2014 International Tuba and Euphonium (ITEC) Conference at Indiana University.
Amanda Wallbrown of Rosedale, WV and Ryan Singleton of Burnsville, WV, two Glenville State College studio art majors, recently took part in the San Angelo National Ceramic Competition in Texas. While both were honored by their selection to compete, Wallbrown was further recognized with a Merit Award that was accompanied by a $50 prize.
