GSC Brass Ensemble to Perform at Charleston Town Center Mall

The Glenville State College Brass Ensemble will again be entertaining shoppers at the Charleston Town Center Mall on Saturday, December 20th with a selection of holiday music. They will be performing from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Macy’s Court in the mall on what is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year, the Saturday before Christmas.

GSC December Graduates Receive Their Diplomas; Heffelfinger Gives Keynote Address

Glenville State College’s first full winter commencement ceremony took place on Saturday, December 13th. The graduates, officially part of the Class of 2015, completed requirements for an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a variety of academic areas including business, criminal justice, teacher education, and natural resource management among others.

Glenville State College Battle of the Bands Competition

The Glenville State College Hidden Promise Consortium is sponsoring a Battle of the Bands competition that will culminate on Saturday, May 2, 2015 in GSC’s new Waco Center. All semi-professional bands in and around West Virginia are eligible to enter!

Three GSC Students Graduate from GSC’s Hidden Promise Program

Glenville State College Hidden Promise Scholars, Brittany Hardy, Chelsey (Ball) Robinson, and Nicholas Lambert, were recognized as graduates of the Hidden Promise program at a ceremony held on December 4th.

Winter Jazz Concert is December 5th at GSC

Members of the Glenville State College Jazz Band are preparing for their winter concert, which will take place on Friday, December 5th at 7:00 p.m., in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The first half of the concert will feature jazz and swing music from artists including Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and Artie Shaw. The second half will feature Christmas tunes performed in a jazz style.

Tree Lighting Ceremony at GSC is December 1st

You’re invited to kick off the holiday season at the ninth annual GSC Tree Lighting Ceremony on Monday, December 1st at 4:30 p.m. in the Luanna T. Smith Amphitheatre. Festivities will continue at 5:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Mollohan Campus Community Center with Santa and Mrs. Claus who will pose for pictures with the kids.

Annual Thanksgiving Premium Night Scheduled at GSC

The public is invited to Mollohan’s Restaurant at Glenville State College on Wednesday, November 19th from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. for GSC’s Thanksgiving Premium Night. The dinner menu will include some traditional Thanksgiving favorites!

GSC Cable Channel Launches on Shentel

GSC TV is now on the air for Shentel Cable TV customers. The new Glenville State College channel focuses on academics and athletics at GSC and is a part of Shentel’s cable lineup for digital subscribers throughout West Virginia. Shentel customers can find GSC TV on Channel 182.

Mental Health First Aid Certification Held at GSC

The GSC Behavioral Science Club hosted a mental health first aid certification course for its students and alumni on Saturday, November 8th. During the eight-hour course, participants learned a five-step action plan to help loved ones, colleagues, neighbors, and others cope with mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, and substance use.
