Approximately 350 freshmen arrived on campus at Glenville State College on Friday, August 15th for the 2014 fall term. Glenville State College’s class of 2018 is made up of students from throughout West Virginia, nine other states, and the District of Columbia.
The staff of Glenville State College’s Student Support Services will be hosting a free ‘Pioneer-a-Palooza’ open house on Thursday, August 21st beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the GSC Amphitheater. The event will include a barbecue, games, and a live concert featuring the band 3 AM Tokyo.
The Glenville State College Bluegrass Band was recently showcased in the July 2014 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. This nearly 50 year old publication circulates across the nation and is dedicated to preserving the culture and instilling traditions of the music.
In anticipation of the upcoming school year Glenville State College and Shentel, a Virginia-based cable and internet service provider, have announced a new partnership through which the broadband company will provide high quality cable and internet services to the institution.
Glenville State College is continuing its tradition of offering a wide array of evening classes in Braxton County to accommodate students who might have difficulty making it to the GSC campus to take classes during the day. Several weekly evening Glenville State College courses are scheduled to be held this fall at Braxton County High School in the Braxton County Center.
Glenville State College students are continuing to explore the great outdoors by participating in the GSC High Adventure Program.
On Friday, August 15th, new students will be welcomed to Glenville State College (GSC) for the 2014-2015 academic school year. To help the new students learn about the Glenville community – including local businesses, churches, and other groups that might interest them – GSC is hosting a Campus Picnic & Community Fair.
Alumni and friends of Glenville State College gathered on campus for Alumni Day on Saturday, April 27th where they enjoyed tours of the new Waco Center, lots of bluegrass music on the back lawn of the Alumni Center, and the evening’s alumni awards banquet where nine outstanding graduates were recognized.
Glenville State College’s Robert F. Kidd Library staff recently finished digitally archiving the long-time campus newspaper, The Glenville Mercury as well the college yearbook, the Kanawhachen.
GSC senior Army ROTC Cadet Kyle Hartleben recently graduated from the Sabalauski Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
