The public is invited to Mollohan’s Restaurant at Glenville State College on Wednesday, January 21st from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. for the January Premium Night.
Glenville State College students and professors recently presented at the International Writing Centers Association (IWCA) and the National Council of Peer Tutors of Writing (NCPTW) joint three-day conference held at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort in Florida. Assistant Professors of English Dr. Marjorie Stewart and Dr. Melody Wise along with students Larissa DeLuca and Annetta Snyder presented a 75-minute session at the event.
Glenville State College students and faculty took part in the West Virginia Reading Association’s (WVRA) 59th Annual State Conference at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs in late November. The conference theme, ‘Reading with the Arts: Off the Charts,’ honored the arts and their connection to literacy.
The Glenville State College Foundation is pleased to announce the formation of the Bill and Patsy (Garrett) Dawson Scholarship. This scholarship, which is designed to support GSC students in the education and physical education fields, was funded with life insurance proceeds upon the passing of Mr. Dawson in November of 2014.
Members of the Glenville State College Early Education Student Group recently compiled gift boxes for the First Baptist Church of Glenville’s Shoebox Ministry. The 15 donated Christmas packages were filled with items for children in Gilmer County.
Fourteen students have completed their student teaching internships for Glenville State College at various public schools throughout West Virginia.
The Glenville State College Brass Ensemble will again be entertaining shoppers at the Charleston Town Center Mall on Saturday, December 20th with a selection of holiday music. They will be performing from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Macy’s Court in the mall on what is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year, the Saturday before Christmas.
Glenville State College’s first full winter commencement ceremony took place on Saturday, December 13th. The graduates, officially part of the Class of 2015, completed requirements for an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a variety of academic areas including business, criminal justice, teacher education, and natural resource management among others.
The Glenville State College Hidden Promise Consortium is sponsoring a Battle of the Bands competition that will culminate on Saturday, May 2, 2015 in GSC’s new Waco Center. All semi-professional bands in and around West Virginia are eligible to enter!
Glenville State College Hidden Promise Scholars, Brittany Hardy, Chelsey (Ball) Robinson, and Nicholas Lambert, were recognized as graduates of the Hidden Promise program at a ceremony held on December 4th.
