Glenville, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers advance to the WVIAC Tournament second round vs. Davis & Elkins after they defeated the Alderson-Broaddus Battlers on Monday night in front of a packed house, 85-56.
GSC would take a quick 4-0 lead at the 18:38 mark in the first half but Alderson-Broaddus would cut the lead to one point in their next possession making it 4-3. That is as close as the Battlers would get for the entire game.
The Lady Pioneers would cruse to a 13 point halftime lead over the Battlers 40-27.
In the second half, GSC would continue the good play as they took the big win over Alderson-Broaddus, 85-56.
The Lady Pioneers defense would cause 31 Battler turnovers, while GSC only committed 15 their selves. GSC also out scored the Battlers in the paint 26-14.
Ginny Petties led the Lady Pioneers with 26 points and 11 rebounds for a double double. She scored 21 of her 26 in the first half. Jelena Elez and Beth Deren both scored 12 points in the game, while Elez also handed out five assists.
Mishae Miles also chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Battlers were led by Amanda Peoples with 17 points, while Brittini Shriver chipped in with 10 points.
Natalie Smith dished out five assists for Alderson-Broaddus and Cayla Rhodes pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Lady Pioneers will return to action Wednesday, March 1st when they take on Davis & Elkins in the WVIAC Tournament second round. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, WV.
