Lady Pioneers Defeat Davis & Elkins

Tenisha Wilson had a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Davis & Elkins

Charleston, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers advance in the WVIAC Tournament as they defeated the Davis & Elkins Senators, 79-46.

The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a quick 8-3 lead at the 17:17 mark in the first half. Davis & Elkins would then score on their next two possessions as they cut the Lady Pioneers lead to two points 8-6.

GSC would then make another run as they would out score the Senators 12 to 2. The Lady Pioneers claimed a 26-10 lead at the 9:17 mark.

Davis & Elkins would finally end their drought at the 8:47 mark when Victoria Lyles hit two free throws making it 29-12.

The Lady Pioneers ended the first half on an 18 to 12 run as Beth Deren drilled two deep three pointers  as GSC led 48-26.

GSC shot 51 percent in the first half while Davis & Elkins shot a miserable 24 percent. The Lady Pioneers also controlled the defensive board in the first half as they out rebound the Senators 19 to 11.

In the second half, the Lady Pioneers started on an 11 point run as they held a 59-26 lead.

The Lady Pioneers had no trouble the rest of the way as they downed the Davis & Elkins Senators 79-46.

GSC had a large advantage on the boards as they out rebounded the Senators 61 to 46. The Lady Pioneers also out shot the Senators in the game, shooting a total of 40 percent while Davis & Elkins shot only 22 percent.

Tenisha Wilson led the Lady Pioneers offensive attack with 17 points. Wilson also had 10 rebounds as she recorded a double double while Danielle Woodmore scored 11 points.

Jelena Elez chipped in with 10 points and had five assists. Aesha Peters grabbed a game high 13 rebounds while Misha Miles grabbed 10 rebounds.

Davis & Elkins was led by Jordan Lykes as she scored 11 points and had nine rebounds. Amy Turner scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Lady Pioneers will retake the court on Friday, March 2nd at the Charleston Civic Center. The Lady Pioneers will battle the winner of the Concord/Charleston game. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
