Glenville, WV – Glenville State College students, faculty, and staff will be showing off what GSC has to offer April 16th through 20th for the annual Spring 2012 Pioneer Preview. This event is one of two annual campus open houses for prospective students to learn all about GSC.

“GSC Spring 2012 Pioneer Preview is a wonderful time where upcoming freshman can tour the campus and register for Fall 2012 classes. They can also prepare for the new school year by selecting their student ID cards, choosing their meal plan options, and purchasing parking permits. I look forward to this week and the opportunity to meet our future students,” said GSC Admissions Counselor Rachael Stewart.

In addition to individualized pre-registration, each day includes: a meet and greet with the GSC admissions staff and an overview of financial assistance from the GSC financial aid employees from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; testing, advising, and pre-registration from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.; and the ‘Pioneer Trail’ campus tour that further prepares a future student for the Fall 2012 semester at GSC from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

There are also many special events planned for the week of the 2012 Spring Preview. Visitors can join in a game of ‘Name that Tune’ at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 16th. Later that day, ‘Whose Line Is It?’ will be played at 7:00 p.m.

Bingo will be held on Tuesday, April 17th at 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. There will also be a GSC softball game that day against West Liberty at 3:00 p.m.

The GSC Week Campus Picnic starts at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19th with a game show being held during the event. The annual GSC ‘Blue and White’ football game is that evening at 6:00 p.m. Another GSC theatre production of ‘Parallel Lives’ will go on at 7:00 p.m. that night.

Members of the GSC concert band will perform the annual spring concert at 8:00 p.m. that night. Lastly, there will be a movie shown outdoors at 8:30 p.m. During most of these events, refreshments will be served.

“Getting prospective students involved in student activities and athletic events allows them to experience what it’s like to be a Pioneer for a week,” said GSC Vice President for Enrollment Management Duane Chapman.
