Softball Falls to West Virginia Wesleyan

Carly Caldon went two for four with two RBI’s and scored a run

Buckhannon, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers dropped two games to West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.

In the first game the Lady Pioneers took a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first when Kayleigh Huck hit a three run homerun as Carly Caldon, Carlee Chatron, and Brittany Spencer all scored.

Wesleyan however would bounce back and take the lead 5-3 in the bottom of the first.

GSC would then score two runs in the top of the second when Carly Caldon hit a two RBI single as Morgan Scarpellini and Kayleigh Huck both scored as they tied the game at 5 apiece.

Wesleyan would then retake the lead in the bottom of the third as they scored two runs as they went on to a 7-5 victory over the Lady Pioneers.

Carly Caldon went two for four with two RBI’s and scored a run. Kayleigh Huck went one for four with three RBI’s and scored a run.

Katelyn Porter also played well as she went two for four and scored a run.

Brittany May pitched all six innings for GSC as she gave up nine hits, seven runs, and struck out two batters.

In game two, Wesleyan took a quick 0-1 lead but the Lady Pioneers would tie it up in the bottom of the second when Courtney Rzepka scored on an error.

After the first inning it was all Wesleyan from there on out as they would go on to score eight more runs as they would down GSC 1-9 in the second game.

The Lady Pioneers only recorded two hits in the game as Brittany Spencer went one for two and Courtney Rzepka went one for two and scored a run.

Meagan Lesser pitched four innings as she allowed 12 hits, eight runs, and walked one batter.

The Lady Pioneers return to action Tuesday, April 3rd when Shepherd travels to Glenville for a WVIAC double header. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
