Washington, PA – On Saturday, March 31st the GSC Track & Field teams participated in the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
On the women’s side Meghan Ruddlesden came in first place in the long jump with jump of 5.62m, which was also a meet record. Ruddlesden also placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.12.
Marteney Jacobs finished second in the long jump with a jump of 5.17m, Jacobs also placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.80.
In the high jump Danielle Perkins finished in first place and set a new meet record with a jump of 1.63m.
Cindy Hillberry placed third in the discus throw and third in the shot put. In the discus throw her distance was 36.67m and in shot put she threw a 11.27m.
Also in the 4×100 meter relay GSC finished in first with a time of 51.36. The relay team consisted of Nicole Himes, Marteney Jacobs, Jessica Montgomery, and Meghan Ruddlesden.
Overall the Lady Pioneers finished in fourth place at the meet.
On the men’s side Matty Porter finished in first place in the discus throw with a throw of 45.06m, Nicco Mills came in 12th with a throw of 38.35m, and Jared Shipe finished in 19th with a distance of 34.97m.
Porter also came in seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.58m, while Jared Shipe came in 17th and Nicco Mills finished 18th.
In the javelin throw Boris Nimcevic finished seventh with a throw of 48.29m.
William Sarine came in 12th in the pole vault with a height of 3.70m.
David Sowell finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time if 11.47.
TJ Abel finished first and set a new meet record in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.52.
In the 4×100 meter relay the Pioneers finished second with a time of 43.77. The relay team was made up by Antwan Stewart, David Sowell, Adam Leonard, and Ronnie Mills.
Overall the men finished 10th at the meet. The Track & Field team will return to action April 7th when they travel to Marietta.
