Pioneers Basketball Team Signs Two Players

Glenville, WV – Glenville State’s Head Men’s basketball coach Stephen Dye is proud to announce the signing of two new players for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

DJ Banks is a 6’3 guard from Barberton, Ohio. DJ played at Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s High School. DJ won a state championship his junior year at St. Vincent St. Mary’s. He averaged 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

He was also an AP Poll Third Team All-State selection and was a member of the Ohio vs. Kentucky All Star Game. DJ also was named First Team All Region and scored 500 points in a single season.

“We are very excited for DJ to get to campus next year and are excited to see what he can bring to the team in 2012”, stated Dye.

Joe Ballard is a 6’5 forward from Dayton, OH. Joe averaged 10 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks at Thurgood Marshall High School. Joe also led his team to the final four in high school last year. He was also voted best dunker in the state of Ohio last year.

“Joe is a high flyer with a 6’9 wingspan and 42 inch vertical leap, we are excited what he will bring to the table”, said Dye.

The Pioneers will be looking to add some good size and more athleticism for the 2012 season, and is off to a great start with DJ and Joe.
