GSC Baseball Splits with Ohio Valley

Ian Morris hit a sacrifice fly to left field as John Royce scored as the Pioneers won game one 3-1

Glenville, WV – The GSC Baseball team finished their three game series with Ohio Valley on Sunday, April 29th at the Sue Morris Complex.

In game one of the double header, Ohio Valley got on the score board first in the top of the first inning off of a solo homerun by Tyler Welch as OVU took a 1-0 lead.

It would take the Pioneers some time to find their bats but they would take the lead in bottom of the fourth as Steven Miller hit a two run homerun as Ian Morris scored putting GSC up, 2-1.

The Pioneers would add another run in the bottom of the fifth when Ian Morris hit a sacrifice fly to left field as John Royce scored putting GSC up, 3-1.

That would be enough as the Pioneers would hold on to the victory, 3-1.

Steven Miller went one for three with two RBI’s and scored a run. John Royce went one for two and scored a run.

Chris Knapp pitched all seven innings allowing five hits, one run, and struck out seven batters.

In the second game, Ohio Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

Ohio Valley would add two more runs in the top of the fourth as they took a 3-0 lead over GSC.

Ohio Valley had a huge seventh inning as they scored five runs to take an 8-0 lead.

The Pioneers could not find their offense as they fell in game two to OVU 8-0.

Ronnie Loy went two for three in the game while Darrien Hudson went one for one.

Tyler Reid pitched six innings as he gave up 11 hits, five runs, and struck out five batters.

The Pioneers first season of baseball since 1982 has come to an end.
