Wheeling, WV – The Glenville State Men’s and Women’s track and field teams both finished in fifth place at the WVIAC Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Pioneers finished with 55 points. The Griffins scored 197 points for first place, besting second-place Wheeling Jesuit by 28 points. WV Wesleyan was third with 112 points while Concord had 60. Charleston (34), West Liberty (14), Pitt-Johnstown (6) and Alderson-Broaddus (4) rounded out the field.
The GSC men’s team finished with 37 point, while West Virginia Wesleyan took home first place with 200 points. Seton Hill scored 180 points, Wheeling Jesuit scored 147 points, while Concord scores 50 points, which was good enough for fourth place, and West Liberty came in sixth with 36 points.
On the women’s side Megan Ruddlesden finished in second place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.59, Ruddlesden also came in first in the long jump with a jump of 5.48m.
Danielle Perkins placed second in the high jump with a jump of 1.63m.
Marteney Jacobs finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.04m, Jacobs also finished second in the Heptathlon as she scored eight points.
Cindy Hillberry finished second in the shot put, third in the discus throw, and fifth in the hammer throw. Her distance in the shot put was 12.07m, 34.67m in the discus throw, and 36.61m in the hammer throw.
On the men’s side Seth Aldridge placed sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.43.
Senior TJ Abel finished in first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.64.
Jakhire Murphy finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.90m. William Sarine finished fifth in the pole vault with a 4.05m.
Matty Porter finished fourth in the discus throw and second in the hammer throw. Porter threw a 41.89m in the discus throw, while he threw a 46.91m in the hammer throw.
