Glenville, WV – The Glenville State College Men’s Basketball Staff and Head Coach Stephen Dye would like to announce the signing of Kai Turner and Adam McCall to the program. With these two additions to the previous announcements, the men’s coaching staff feels extremely confident about this year’s Recruiting Class.
Turner is a 6’7 225 pound power forward from Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus, Ohio. Kai played a major role for the Scots that went 21-2 this past season. He averaged 10 ppg and 9.8 rpg while earning honors such as Honorable Mention All-City, Honorable Mention All-District, 10-11 Heart of a Scot Award, and 2012 Walnut Ridge Rebounding award.
“Kai brings us great size and strength to the program,” said Coach Dye. “He is extremely long and can run the floor, as well as rebound and finish around the basket”. “We are excited about Kai joining our program and know that he will be a great addition to our program and our community.”
McCall is a 5’11 160 pound point guard also from Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus, Ohio. Adam was the leader on the court for the Scots that went 21-2 this year. He was the heart and soul to a great program while averaging 9.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg, and 3.4 spg. Adam was named to the 10-11 Honorable Mention All-City and All- District Teams in his junior year. During his senior year he was named 2nd Team All City and Honorable Mention All-District, while earning the Walnut Ridge Defensive MVP award. Adam was also Top 5 Class of 2012 Ohio Defensive Player as picked by ESPN writer John Stovall.
“Adam gives us that defensive threat on the court,” said Coach Dye. “He applies so much pressure on opposing team’s guards that it takes them completely out of their game plan. He is great in transition and knows where to go with the ball. His on-court leadership and winning history is something every coach wants to have in their program.
With these two additions to the program Coach Dye and his staff have put together a great recruiting class which includes top players from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and the Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year. More announcements to come soon as well!
