On Friday, August 17th, Glenville State College will welcome the arrival of more than 350 new students for the 2012-2013 school year which begins on Monday, August 20th.

To help these new students learn about the Glenville community including local businesses, churches, and other groups that might interest them, GSC is hosting a Campus Picnic & Community Fair.

The event will take place on Sunday, August 19th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the Clark Hall lawn. Community businesses, churches, and organizations are invited to set up displays to introduce and promote themselves to the new students through the use of coupons, gift certificates, free samples, and information. The Campus Picnic & Community Fair is a great opportunity to introduce these new Pioneers to what the community can offer them during their experience at Glenville State College.

“This is a very exciting time in the lives of these students and we are giving the community the chance to introduce your business, church, or organization to them. We are more than excited to be a part of such a wonderful community who so willingly gives back to those in the area. A healthy social life is found only, when in the mirror of each soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living,” said GSC Director of Student Activities Jodi Ocheltree.

Any business, church, or local organization that is interested in participating in the picnic should reserve a table by Thursday, August 9, 2012. Anyone who wishes to reserve a table is encouraged to do so as soon as possible to avoid being left without a space. To reserve a table or for additional information, contact Ocheltree at Jodi.Ocheltree@glenville.edu or (304) 462-6416.
