Glenville, WV – The GSC Lady Pioneers basketball team defeated #6 Edinboro 101-82 in the GSC Lady Pioneer Tip-off Classic.
GSC was paced by Ginny Mills and Kenyona Simmons as they both scored a game high 24 points. Kenyona also had a double double as she pulled down a game high 12 rebounds.
Kenyell Goodson chipped in with 14 points while Ashleigh Fossett also scored in double figures with 10 points.
LaToya Hambrick also had a good game for the Lady Pioneers as she scored nine points and had 10 rebounds. Jelena Elez dished out a game high eight assists.
Samantha Blazetic led Edinboro with 21 points and had 10 rebounds for a double double. Darche’ Jackson, Kiara Brown, and Bobbi Baker all scored 11 points each.
The Lady Pioneers had a big advantage in the rebounding margin as they out rebounded Edinboro 71 to 57. GSC also had a great night from behind the three point line as they shot 42 percent for the game.
The Lady Pioneers are off to a 2-0 start and return to action next Saturday, November 17th when they travel to California PA. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
On the men’s side they defeated Millersville 81-71 in the OVU Classic.
GSC was led by Joe Ballard as he scored 21 points and grabbed 11 points for his first career double double as a Pioneer. Jamel Morris scored 18 points and handed out five assists.
Lamar Mallory scored 13 points while freshman DJ Blanks finished with 11 points. Blanks also dished out game high six assists.
Millersville was led by Larry Grant as he scored a game high 26 points. No other player for Millersville scored in double figures. Elijah Obade grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Pioneers shot 50 percent from the floor while Millersville shot 40 percent.
GSC returns to action Tuesday, November 13th when West Virginia Tech travel to Glenville. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
