WVIAC All-Conference Volleyball Team

Glenville State’s Dejana Ludoski was named to the WVIAC All-conference Second Team

Princeton, WV – The WVIAC has announced the yearly top awards in the conference. This year, Wheeling Jesuit junior middle blocker Jenna Pew was named Player of the Year while the Freshman of the Year was awarded to Seton Hill middle blocker Shelby Kyllo. Pitt-Johnstown’s Linda Renzi was tabbed the league’s Coach of the Year by her peers.

Pew, a native of Marshallville, Ohio, guided the Cardinals to a 14-0 league record and top-25 ranking. She helped WJU finish the regular season with a 32-2 mark. Pew currently has 358 kills, averaging 3.17 per set. She has also contributed 429 assists to go along with a team-high 31 aces. Defensively, she has 203 digs but her dominance has been at the net, totaling 124 blocks on the season. Pew ranks among the top 10 in the league points (first), in kills (third), blocks (third) and hitting percentage (fourth).

Kyllo, a native of Anacortes Wash., led the Griffins to a second-place finish in the WVIAC regular season. She guided the squad to a 20-11 overall record, including a 12-2 mark against WVIAC teams. Kyllo finished first in the league with 1.57 blocks per set. For the season, she posted 163 blocks, 54 of which were solo stops. Kyllo was second on the team in kills (217/2.09 per set). Her overall effort enabled the Griffins to lead the league in total blocks with 305.5.

Renzi, in her ninth season at the helm of the Lady Cats, led the team to a fifth-place finish in the WVIAC regular-season standings. Her team went 18-8 on the season and finished 10-4 against the WVIAC. Renzi coached two all-WVIAC performers. The award marks the first time someone from UPJ has won the honor.
