Bowie, MD – The GSC Lady Pioneers basketball team picked up huge road victory over Bowie State on Tuesday evening, 81-78.
Bowie jumped out to a 12 point lead, 17-5 with 13:23 left to play in the first half, but GSC would battle back.
The Lady Pioneers would re-take the lead, 29-28, at the 6:32 mark when Kenyell Goodson hit a deep three pointer.
GSC would end up taking a 12 point lead into halftime, 53-41.
In the second half, Bowie State would make a strong run as they would retake the lead, 76-73 with only 3:09 left to play in the game.
However, on GSC’s next possession Ginny Mills would tie the game at 74 all as she hit a three pointer.
Bowie State would then miss a jumper as the Lady Pioneers would go on to hit five free throws as they held on to a 81-78 road victory.
The Lady Pioneers bench would out score Bowie State’s bench 52 to 20.
Ginny Mills led GSC with a game high 23 points. She also pulled down six rebounds and handed out three assists.
Kenyell Goodson scored 15 points in the victory while Ashleigh Fossett went three for three from behind the three point line and went two for two from the free throw line scoring 11 points.
Kenyona Simmons led the team with seven rebound, while Jessica Parsons led the team with four assists.
Bowie State was led by Jasmine McIntosh as she scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Bria Robinson scored 16 points while Moriah Goodman and Cortney Baynard both chipped in with 10 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Saturday, December 8th when they travel to West Liberty. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
