Glenville, WV – The GSC men’s basketball squad suffered a tough home loss at the hands of the University of Charleston, 88-65 Monday evening.
The Pioneers found themselves down by six to the Golden Eagles, 37-31 with only 3:28 minutes to go till halftime, but would eventually go to halftime only down three points, 40-37.
In the second half Pioneers came within one point, 56-55 at the 10:18 mark, but that’s as close as they would come as GSC would struggle the rest of the game to score as Charleston would go on to win 88-65.
The game had 11 ties and six lead changes before Charleston ran away with it.
The Pioneers only shot 33 percent from the floor while the Golden Eagles shot 47 percent. Charleston also won the rebounding battle 50 to 38.
GSC only had two players score in double figures with Lamar Mallory scoring a game high 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for a double double. Jamel Morris scored 20 points on the night, grabbed six rebounds, and handed out three assists.
Charleston was led by Evan Faulkner as he scored 18 points. Charleston had five other players score in double figures.
The Pioneers return to action Friday, December 14th at home when WVIAC foe Ohio Valley. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
