Glenville, WV – The GSC men’s basketball team had a huge blowout victory at home on Thursday night as they defeated the Davis & Elkins Senators by 19 points, 106-87.
Both teams battled back and fourth in the early minutes of the first half before the Pioneers would start to pull away.
GSC would build a 13 point lead, 32-19 with only 8:17 left until halftime. The Pioneers would continue their good play and extend their lead to 17 heading into halftime, 53-36.
In the second half, it was all GSC as the Senators would only get as close as 14. The Pioneers would go on and win by 19 points, 106-87.
GSC’s defense caused 17 turnovers, converting them into 22 points.
The Pioneers also dominated the Senators in the paint as they outscored Davis & Elkins 60 to 24.
GSC shot an amazing 58 percent from the floor and 45 percent from behind the arch.
The Pioneers had four players score in double figures with Jamel Morris leading the way with a game high 33 points.
Kevin Gray hit five three pointers as he finished with 18 points while Lamar Mallory chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Joe Ballard also had a great game off the bench as he had several huge ESPN type dunks and while finishing with 13 points and five rebounds.
DJ Blanks led GSC with seven assists.
Devin Miller led Davis & Elkins with 19 points while Shane Brown scored 17 points.
The Pioneers return to action next Monday, January 14th when they travel to Alderson-Broaddus. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
