Philippi, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers basketball squad won their sixth game in row on Monday night as they traveled to Alderson-Broaddus and walked away with a 99-58 victory.
GSC had five players score in double figures with Ginny Mills leading the way with game high 16 points. Mills also had four rebounds and two steals.
Kenyona Simmon and Jelena Elez both scored 15 points while Elez handed out a game high six assists.
Tiffani Huffman scored 12 points off the bench and grabbed five rebounds while Kenyell Goodson chipped in with 11 points.
Alderson-Broaddus was led by Amanda Peoples as she was the only Battler to score in double figures.
The Lady Pioneers had a huge advantage on the boards as they out-rebounded the Battler 59 to 39.
The GSC defense also caused 16 turnovers and converted them into 20 points. The Lady Pioneers also scored 25 second chance points while the Battlers only had 10 points.
Both teams finished the night shooting 39 percent from the field, however, GSC shot 38 percent from behind the arc while Alderson-Broaddus only shot 7 percent.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Saturday, January 19th when West Virginia State travels to Jesse R. Lilly Gymnasium. Also fans, don’t forget it’s Bleed Blue Day as we encourage all Pioneer fans to wear blue and be loud. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
