Vienna, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers basketball team extended their winning ways on Thursday night as they traveled to Vienna, West Virginia as they defeated the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots, 109-75.
The Lady Pioneers and Fighting Scots battled back and fourth for the first 20:00 minutes of the first half. The Fighting Scots managed to keep the score close as GSC only held a five point lead at intermission, 48-43.
In the second half, the Lady Pioneers quickly pushed the lead to 10 points, 53-43, as Kenyell Goodson drained a deep three. After that, it was all GSC as they extended their lead even more as they pushed it to 25 points, 76-51 with 12:56 left in the game.
In the second half, Ohio Valley would only get as close as 22 points as the Lady Pioneers claimed a 109-75 victory as they pushed their winning streak to 12 games.
The Lady Pioneers scored 29 points off of turnovers, they also scored 25 second chance points, while the bench scored 40 points in the win as they dominated Ohio Valley in all three categories.
GSC also out-rebounded the Fighting Scots 60 to 42.
Kenyona Simmons led GSC with 21 points in 20 minutes of play. Simmons also pulled down four rebounds.
Ginny Mills scored 19 points in the victory; Mills also had a team high three steals.
Kenyell Goodson recorded a double double as she chipped in with 12 points and grabbed a team high 13 rebounds. Also for GSC Ashleigh Fossett and Aesha Peters both scored 12 points.
Ohio Valley was led by Jasmine Gibson as she scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double double. Kayla Parsley chipped in with 17 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Monday, February 4th when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
