Vienna, WV – The GSC men’s basketball squad traveled to Ohio Valley University and walked away with a nice 87-61 win over the Fighting Scots.
The Pioneers got down early to the Fighting Scots 10-3 early in the first half. However the Pioneers would later go on a run and tie the game at 13 all with 14:00 minutes left till halftime.
GSC would start to find their offense as they would end the first half on a 6 to 2 run and claim a 47-40 lead at the half.
In the second half, it was all GSC as they would build that seven point halftime lead to 30 at the 6:22 mark.
The Pioneers would run away with the win as they claimed 87-61 victory on the road.
The Pioneers defense caused 22 turnovers and converted them into 30 points while GSC only turned it over 12 times.
The Pioneers bench also outscored the Fighting Scots bench 22 to 17.
GSC was led by Jamel Morris as he scored 23 points and had three steals in the victory. Lamar Mallory posted a double double with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Kevin Gray was the only other Pioneers to score in double figures as he chipped in with 12 points.
DJ Blanks dished out six assists and scored nine points.
Ohio Valley was led Ashton Brown as he finished with a game high 24 points while Osvaldas Gaizauskas chipped in with 11 points.
The Pioneers return to action Monday, February 4th when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
