Johnstown, PA – The Glenville State men’s basketball squad suffered a tough road loss at the hands of Pitt-Johnstown, 74-85 Monday night.
In the first half of action, the Pioneer’s got off to a slow start as Pitt-Johnstown claimed an early five point lead, 7-2. But the Pioneers would come back and later tie the game at 9 all at the 15:54 mark as Joe Ballard had a huge dunk.
However Pitt-Johnstown would end the first half on a run as they went up by 11 points at halftime, 41-30.
In the second, half Pitt-Johnstown would eventually build a 16 point lead, 56-40 at the 14:33 mark.
The Pioneers would continue to battle but the closest they would get in the second half would be eight points at the 6:22 mark, 70-62.
Pitt-Johnstown would go onto win, 85-74 as the Pioneers suffered a tough road loss.
The Pioneers scored 13 points off of Pitt-Johnstown turnovers. GSC also dominated the paint as they outscored Pitt-Johnstown 50 to 38.
GSC was led by Jamel Morris as he scored 20 and pulled down five rebounds. Lamar Mallory posted a double double for the Pioneers as he scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Freshman point guard scored 19 points and dished out a team high four assists.
Pitt-Johnstown was led by Nick Novak as he scored a game high 26 points. Bill Luther and Ian Vescovi both chipped in with 14 points.
The Pioneers return to the court Thursday, February 7th when they travel to Davis & Elkins. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm.
