Lady Pioneers Softball Team Picks Up Win and Loss

Carlee Chatron finished the day going 2 for 6 with 1 RBI and scored 5 runs

Raleigh, NC – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers softball team finished the day with one win and one loss as they split today’s game at the Shaw University Tournament in Raleigh, NC.

In the first game the Lady Pioneers defeated Millersville University 3-1.

Millersville took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and would hold onto that lead until the bottom of the fourth inning. That is when GSC would score two runs when Carlee Chatron scored with Kayleigh Huck driving her in.

Their second run would come when Brittany Spencer drove in Morgan Scarpellini putting the Lady Pioneers up 2-1.

GSC would add another run in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Lady Pioneers would win 3-1.
Carlee Chatron, Kayleigh Huck, and Brittany Spencer all had hits in the game. Huck also finished with two RBI’s.

Brittany May pitched one inning while Sam Weaver pitched six innings allowing three hits, with three strike outs as she recorded the save.

In the second game, the Lady Pioneers would fall to IUP 10-11 in 11 innings..
Both team had their bats going as GSC finished with 13 hits while IUP finished with 16 hits.

Meagan Lesser led GSC as she went three for six with two RBI’s in the game. Kayleigh Huck went two for six with two RBI’s as well.

Jess Fedor pitched four innings, she struck out three batters but allowed five hits while Sam Weaver pitched six innings striking out seven batters and allowing 11 hits.

The Lady Pioneers finished day one of the 2013 season with a 1-1 record. They return to action tomorrow when they take on East Stroudsburg.
