Erie, Pa. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers basketball squad defeated Shaw today by a score of 111-86.
Shaw would jump out to a 9-5 lead early in the first half however GSC would come right back and tie it up at 11 all at the 15:46 minute mark.
After the game was tied at 11 the Lady Pioneers would explode and would build a 16 point lead 29-13, with 10:58 to play in the first half.
Shaw would make a small run and cut the Lady Pioneers lead to 10, 55-45, as they headed to halftime.
In the second half it was all GSC, the closest that Shaw would get in the second half would be seven points.
The Lady Pioneers would cruise to a 25 point win, 111-86.
GSC defense caused 30 turnovers and converted them into 36 points.
Five players scored in double figures for GSC as Kenyell Goodson scored a game high 24 points.
Ginny Mills scored 20 points, with Ashleigh Fossett scoring 13 points, while Briauna Nix and Kenyona Simmons both chipped in with 12 points.
Nix also pulled down six rebounds while Jelena Elez dished out 10 assists.
Shaw was led by Crystal Harris with 16 points. Isayra Diaz and Taylor Dalrymple both chipped in with 14 points.
With the win the Lady Pioneers advance in the NCAA Division II Women’s Tournament and will play the winner of California (PA) and Edinboro. Game time is set for tomorrow Saturday, March 15th at 5:00 pm.
