Lady Pioneers Sweep the Golden Bears

Charlee Chatron had 2 hits and scored 3 runs as the Lady Pioneers swept West Virginia Tech

Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers defeated the West Virginia Tech Golden Bears in a double header on Wednesday afternoon.

In the first game of the double header it was all GSC as they Lady Pioneers would cruise to a 9-0 win over West Virginia Tech.

The Lady Pioneers would get on the board first as Sam Weaver scored on an error by West Virginia Tech as GSC went up, 1-0, in the bottom of the first.

GSC would add to their lead in the bottom of the third as Christie Hittle would hit a double as Meagan Lesser scored, then WV Tech would walk Katelyn Porter as Shelby Colson would score to make it, 3-0.

In the bottom of the sixth inning is when the Lady Pioneers would do most of the damage as they would score six runs as they walked away with a 9-0 win over WV Tech.

Morgan Scarpellini went 1 for 4 with 3 RBI’s in the game while Kayleigh Huck and Carly Caldron both finished the game with a RBI.

Brittany May pitched the whole game for the Lady Pioneers as she walked 1 batter and struck out two.

In the second game of the double header, the Lady Pioneers scored first after Morgan Scarpellini hit a single that drove in Carlee Chatron. Later in the bottom of the first inning Morgan Scarpellini would also score after being walked, GSC took a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Pioneers would add another run in the bottom of the second inning as they went up, 3-0.

GSC would then take a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.

However WV Tech would come back and score two runs in the top of the fifth and two runs in the top of the sixth as they cut the Lady Pioneers lead to 5-4.

But GSC would get the three outs they needed to walk away with the 5-4 victory as they swept the Golden Bears.

Kayleigh Huck went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s while Morgan Scarpellini and Christie Hittle both finished with an RBI each.

Jess Fedor was the winnig pitcher as she allowed 8 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 3 batters.

The Lady Pioneers return to action March 29th when Bluefield State travels to Glenville. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
