Wheeling, W.Va. – The Glenville State softball team dropped two games to WVIAC Conference foe Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday afternoon.
In the first game Wheeling Jesuit would take a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
The Lady Pioneers would cut their lead to three in the top of the second inning as Morgan Scarpellini hit a solo homerun making it, 3-1.
GSC would again score in the top of the third inning as Morgan Scarpellini would hit a double as she drove in Kate Williams but it wouldn’t be enough as the Lady Pioneers fell to Wheeling Jesuit, 4-2.
Morgan Scarpellini went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and scored a run as she led GSC. Meagan Lesser, Kayleigh Huck, Sam Weaver, Shelby Colson, and Carlee Chatron all had hits in the game.
Sam Weaver pitched six innings for the Lady Pioneers as she gave up 4 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 1 batter.
In the second game of the double header once again Wheeling Jesuit would take the lead first in the bottom of the fourth inning as they scored two runs to take a, 2-0 lead.
Wheeling Jesuit would add another run in the bottom of the fifth inning as they would go on to defeat the Lady Pioneers, 3-0.
Brittany Spencer went 2 for 3 while Shelby Colson went 1 for 3.
Jess Fedor pitched all six innings as she allowed 4 hits, gave up 3 runs, and struck out 2 batters.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Friday, April 19th when they take on WVIAC rival Fairmont State. All Pioneer fans don’t forget to wear black for the BLACKOUT. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
