Softball Splits Double Header with West Liberty

Brittany May pitched 5.1 innings as she allowed 8 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 2 battersas the Lady Pioneers split a double header with West Liberty

Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers softball squad split a double header on the road Tuesday afternoon with conference foe West Liberty.

In game one, West Liberty would take an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Then in the top of the third the Lady Pioneers would take the lead Carlee Chatron dorve in Carly Caldon and later Katylen Porter would hit a single as she drove in Carlee Chatron as GSC went up 2-1.

The Lady Pioneers would add another run in the top of the fourth as they would take a 3-1 lead.

However, West Liberty would score three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as they would claim a one point victory over the Lady Pioneers, 4-3.

Carlee Chatron went 3 for 4 with an RBI and scored a run while Katleyn Porter also went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Morgan Scarpellini and Shelby Colson both finished game one with a hit.

In the second game of the double header West Liberty would score first in the bottom of the second inning as they went up 1-0.

The Lady Pioneers would tie it up at 1-1 in the top of the third innings as Carly Caldon scored on a failed pickoff attempt. And the Lady Pioneers would add to their lead in the top of the seventh as Katylen Porter hit a sacrifice fly to left field as she drove Kate Williams across the plate as GSC would hold on to claim a 2-1 victory over West Liberty in game two.

Brittany Spencer went 2 for 4 while Meagan Lesser went 2 for 3. Katleyn Porter finished the game with an RBI.

Jess Fedor picted all 7 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 4 batters.

The Lady Pioneers return to action Friday, April 26th when they travel to the University of Charleston. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
