GSC Running Back Rahmann Lee has been named the MEC Offensive Player of the Week

Bridgeport, W.Va.- Rahmann Lee (Glenville State), Andrew Faraimo (West Liberty) and Bryan Arbes (West Liberty) have been named Mountain East Conference Players of the Week, the league announced today.

Lee, a sophomore running back from Capitol Heights, Md., accounted for 238 yards of total offense as the Pioneers defeated Fairmont State, 31-14, last Thursday night in the “Battle of the Bit.” Lee had 164 yards on 28 carries and a pair of scores on the ground, and then added three catches for 74 yards, including a long catch of 52 yards as GSC picked up its first win of the season.

Faraimo, a sophomore safety from Torrance, Calif., helped West Liberty to its first shutout in five years with a 9-0 win at West Virginia State. Faraimo came up with five tackles (four solo), including one for a loss and one sack. He also added an interception and a pass breakup in a 9-0 win for the ‘Toppers.

Arbes, a sophomore from Monongahela, Pa., was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts in soggy conditions in a 9-0 win for West Liberty at West Virginia State. He connected on field goals from 29, 19 and 39 yards out to provide the margin of victory for the ‘Toppers.

Offense: D.J. Mendenhall (Urbana) threw for 349 yards and three scores in a loss at Shepherd … Leighton Settle (Charleston) picked up 128 yards on the ground and a touchdown to lead the Golden Eagles to a victory at UVa-Wise … Allen Cross (Shepherd) rushed 25 times for 114 yards and provided the game-winning score in the fourth quarter for the Rams against Urbana … Ray Russ (Notre Dame) threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns in a win over WV Wesleyan … Marty Bishop (West Liberty) had 91 yards on 25 carries at WV State … Derrick Williams (Concord) had a career-high eight catches at Bowie State.
Defense: Will Gray (Notre Dame) registered 10 tackles (four solo), including two for a loss and a sack, as the Falcons held WVWC to just 11 yards rushing … Torie Wagner (Charleston) intercepted a pass and returned for a touchdown for UC’s first score against UVa-Wise … Dontrewell Kelley (Shepherd) had a team-high secen tackles and broke up two passes in the win over Urbana … D’Gary Wallace (Urbana) racked up 12 solo tackles against Shepherd … Garrett Davis (Fairmont State) had eight tackles and returned a fumble 85 yards for a touchdowna gainst the Pioneers.
Special Teams: Kyle Caplan (Notre Dame) came in as a substitute midway through the game and made two field goals and two extra points against WV Wesleyan … Russell Bailey (Concord) blocked a punt against Bowie State.
