GSC Education Professor Featured in International Publication

Shelly Ratliff with her publication Glenville, WV- Glenville State College Assistant Professor of Education Shelly Ratliff has had the honor of appearing on the cover of a recent issue of  The Reading Professor. The cover photo of the winter 2012 issue shows Ratliff with her husband Jon and their four-year-old daughter Brooklyn.  The publication’s editor also wrote a about Ratliff and her family. The Reading Professor is a magazine read by educators all over the world.

“It is an honor to be asked to have my family featured on the cover of an international publication. I was asked by a Marshall University professor (where I am earning my doctorate) if we would submit a picture. This particular edition focused on the importance of family involvement in reading with children. Our four year old especially enjoyed seeing herself on the cover,” said Ratliff.

Ratliff is a 2002 graduate of Glenville State College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a specialty in English Education, Elementary Education, and Early Education. She received her Master’s Degree from Marshall University with a focus in Reading. Currently she is pursuing her Doctorate from Marshall University with a specialty in Curriculum and Instruction emphasizing in Literacy. Ratliff is now working on her dissertation. She resides in Glenville (Gilmer County), West Virginia with her family.
