Vienna, W.Va. – Donte Morales had a great game and a career high 40 points as he and Glenville State Pioneers improve to 2-0 on the early season as they defeated the Ohio Valley Scots, 103-90.
Both the Pioneers and the Scots would go back and fourth in the first half as each team seemed to trade baskets. However the Pioneers would take a narrow led into intermission, 46-44.
In the second half the Pioneers would come on hot and go on a seven point run at the 17:45 mark which would end up being the run that GSC needed to pull away. After that the Pioneers would continue to roll building a 14 point led 69-55, with 13:41 left to play.
Ohio Valley would make a late run but they could not muster up a comeback as GSC would go on to defeat the Ohio Valley Scots on the road by 13 points, 103-90.
The Pioneers had a great night shooting as they shot 59 percent from the floor and 42 percent from behind the three point line.
GSC out-rebounded the Scots 47 to 30, while the Pioneers also scored 44 points in the paint.
Donte Morales had a great game as he scored a game high and career high 40 points, he also pulled down 7 rebounds in the win.
GSC senior center Lamar Mallory finished with a double double as he scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Kevin Gray scored 14 points and Jordan McClound came off the bench to score 10 points.
Point guard Reggie Williams dished out a team high 4 assists.
Ohio Valley was led by Sequan Lawrence as he scored 35 points.
The Pioneers return to the court November 23rd when they travel to Shepherd for their first Mountain East Conference game of the season. Tip-off is set for 4:00p.m.
