Institute, W.Va. – Rahmann Lee rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown as he and the Glenville State Pioneer football team won their final game of the 2013 season on the road over Mountain East Conference foe West Virginia State, 17-12.
GSC would jump out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter however West Virginia State would score 9 unanswered points as the G men took a 14-9 lead into halftime.
In the second half GSC would add to their score with a 33 yard field goal from Ryan Cullen as the Pioneers took a 17-9 lead.
West Virginia State would and a field goal of their own as they pulled within five points, 17-12.
West Virginia State would have an opportunity to take the lead as they would start a drive with only 5:59 left in the game. But the Pioneers defense would be up for the challenge as they forced a turnover on downs as GSC would hold onto a 17-12 victory.
GSC outgained West Virginia State on the ground 158 to 73.
Rahmann Lee rushed for 132 yards on 24 carries and scored a touchdown. His touchdown run coming from 64 yards out.
GSC freshman quarterback Sean Steele threw for 76 yards as he went 9 for 22 and a touchdown. He also threw 2 interceptions on the day.
Steele’s favorite target was Seth Jordan as he caught 2 passes for 30 yards and a touchdown.
James Johnson led the GSC defense with 13.5 tackles in the game. Elijah Sala finished with 6.5 tackles and also had an interception.
The Pioneers finish the 2013 season with a 6-5 (5-4) record. GSC will hold their Annual Football Banquet on Sunday, December 8th keep checking the website for more details.
