Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers gave a great effort but came up short as Gannon, the number 2 team in country, walked away from Jesse R. Lilly Gymnasium win a with 84-90.
Gannon would jump out to a quick 8-0 lead in the first half but the Lady Pioneers would keep their composure and take their first lead of the game at the 12:08 mark, 14-13.
Both teams would continue to battle however Gannon would take a 50-53 lead into halftime.
In the second half both team continued to go back and fourth, however GSC would take a 83-80 lead over Gannon with just 2:57 left to play.
But Gannon would weather the storm, after several costly turnovers by the Lady Pioneers Gannon would go onto defeated GSC by six, 84-90.
We had 8 lead changes in the game and the score was tied 5 times.
The Lady Pioneers had four players score in double figures with Kenyona Simmons leading the way with 19 points and 4 rebounds.
Ashleigh Fossett had a great game as she scored 18 points while Keyanna Tate scored 12 points.
Senior Kenyell Goodson finished with a double double as she scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jessica Parsons led GSC in assists with 6.
Gannon was led by Brittany Batts as she scored 24 points. Also for Gannon Brianna Brennan and Doriyon Glass both finished with double doubles. Brennan had 10 points and 10 rebounds while Glass finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Pioneers are now 2-1 on the season, they return to action next Saturday, November 23rd when they travel to Shepherd as they open up conference play. Tip-off is set for 2:00p.m.
