GLENVILLE, WV—A book signing is planned for former Glenville State College student and Parkersburg native Kevin Ranson. His new novel titled ‘The Matriarch’ was published in April of this year. The event will be held in the GSC Bookstore on Monday, December 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Set in and around the town of Glenville, West Virginia, ‘The Matriarch’ is a supernatural thriller about the ghost of Sis Linn. The woman was allegedly killed by an unknown assailant in 1919 in her home near where the GSC Clark Hall stands today.

“For me, the settings in the book are as much characters as the protagonists themselves. The events and the characters’ actions are, to a large extent, influenced by the region’s history and geography. It will be very exciting to return to the campus that sparked my imagination and share that excitement with the readers,” said Ranson.

GSC Bookstore Manager Diana Milam said, “We are so happy Kevin will be back on campus to sign copies of his book, and we look forward to his upcoming visit.’’

Copies of the book will be available for sale at $12.95 each. For more information, contact Milam at or (304) 462-4116.
