Athens, W. Va. – The #17 Glenville State College Lady Pioneers basketball team extended their win streak to three games Thursday night as they defeated the Concord University Mountain Lions on the road, 100-72.
Both teams would battle back and fourth throughout the first half of the game with the Lady Pioneers taking a slight lead into halftime up by 4 points, 46-42.
In the second half GSC would quickly build a 14 point lead, 58-44 with 16:58 left to play in the game. From that point on the Lady Pioneers would cruise to a 28 point victory on the road over the Concord Mountain Lions, 100-72.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused 28 turnovers in the game while GSC only committed 12 in the game. GSC also converted the Mountain Lions turnovers into 38 points.
The Lady Pioneers scored 31 second chance points while Concord only scored 11 second chance points.
GSC had five players score in double figures with Kenyona Simmons leading the way with 17 points and 7 rebounds.
GSC point guard Tasia Bristow scored 15 points and handed out 5 assists. Keyanna Tate and Tiffani Huffman both chipped in with 12 points each, while Kenyell Goodson scored 11 points.
Aesha Peters pulled down a team high 10 rebounds in the win.
Andrea Bertrand led Concord with 32 points and 12 rebounds as she recorded a double double on the night.
The #17 Lady Pioneers return to action this Saturday, December 7th when they travel to UVa-Wise. Game time is set for 2:00p.m.
