Wise, Va. – The Glenville State Lady basketball team extended their winning streak to four games as they defeated the UVa-Wise Cavaliers on the road Saturday by a score of, 101-65.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused UVa-Wise to turn the ball over 22 times while GSC converted that into 33 points in the win.
GSC also dominated the Cavaliers in the paint as they outscored them 38 to 26. The Lady Pioneers also scored 23 second chance points while UVa-Wise only scored 15 points.
They Lady Pioneers also had a great day shooting the ball as they shot 41 percent from the floor and 36 percent from behind the three-point line while UVa-Wise only shot 29 percent from the floor and 21 percent from behind the three-point line.
GSC also out-rebounded the Cavaliers 65 to 47.
The Lady Pioneers had five players score in double figures with Kenyona Simmons and Tiffani Huffman both scoring 18 points on the day. Keyanna Tate, Kenyell Goodson, and Aesha Peters all chipped in with 11 points each.
Aesha Peters also finished with 5 blocks in the game.
Briauna Nix led GSC in rebounds with 9 in the game while Jessica Parsons dished out 9 assists.
UVa-Wise was led by Katie Jo Lester as she scored 18 points for the Cavaliers.
The Lady Pioneers are now 6-1 (4-0) on the year. They return to the court December 16th when they travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina as they take on Winston Salem State. Tip-off is set for 6:00p.m.
