The Glenville State Pioneer basketball team seasons comes to an end as they fall to West Virginia State 93-117.
The Pioneers led early in the first half but West Virginia State took the lead for good at the 13:04 mark after a tip-in by Will Thomas which made it 18-16.
Both teams shot well as the Pioneers shot 52 percent from the floor and 50 percent from behind the arc, while West Virginia State shot 65 percent from the floor and 60 percent from behind the arc.
Both teams handled the ball well as the Pioneers turned it over 18 times while West Virginia State only turned it over 12 times. The Yellow Jackets did convert those Pioneer turnovers into 39 points.
The Pioneers outscored the Yellow Jackets in the paint 46-42, they also out rebounded the Yellow Jackets 34-27.
Nick Dent led the Pioneers 27 points on 9 of 16 shooting, and Justin Caldwell scored 20 points. Jonathan Bevins also had a good game as he scored 16 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.
Jeffery “JT” Lewis chipped in with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Corey Bethea with 36 points while Josh “Cookie” Miller posted a double double with 21 points and 10 assists.
The Pioneers 2010-11 season comes to an end as they finish the season 5-21 (5-17).
