Wise, Va. - Glenville State senior center Lamar Mallory posted a double double with 27 points and 10 rebounds as the Pioneers pull off the come from behind victory on the road over UVa-Wise, 78-76.
The Pioneers would get down early in the ball game and UVa-Wise would take advantage and take a 7 point lead into halftime over GSC, 46 to 39.
However in the second half GSC would fight their way back and take the lead at the 5:30 mark of the second half as Jordan McCloud hit a jumper, putting the Pioneers up 68-66.
UVa-Wise would later cut the lead to 1, 77-76, but GSC would be to much as they pull off the comeback victory over the Cavaliers, 78-76.
GSC’s defense caused 19 turnovers by the Cavaliers while the Pioneers only committed 9 turnovers their selves.
The Pioneers also dominated UVa-Wise in the paint as they scored 52 points to the Cavaliers 26 points.
Lamar Mallory posted a double double for the Pioneers as he scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Senior guard Kevin Gray scored 13 points and handed out 5 assists.
Jordan McCloud scored 11 points off the bench for the Pioneers while JJ Vazquez chipped in with 10 points.
UVa-Wise was led by Javon Moore as he scored 16 points. Also for the Cavaliers Deon Boyce posted a double double as he scored 12 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.
The Pioneers return to action December 18th when they travel to take on Salem International. Game time is set for 7:00p.m.
