Bluefield, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers continued their winning streak as they defeated Bowie State in the Bluefield State Sheetz Herb Sims Classic, 130-85.
In the first half GSC and Bowie State battled back and fourth but the Lady Pioneers would pull away late in the first half and take a nine point lead at halftime, 58-49.
In the second half it would be all Lady Pioneers as they would cruise to a 130-85 victory.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused 28 turnovers and converted them into 41 points.
Both teams shot 46 percent from the floor while GSC shot 48 percent from behind the three-point line while Bowie State shot 22 percent.
The Lady Pioneers had seven players score in double figures with Kenyell Goodson leading the way with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Tiffani Huffman scored 17 points in the game and also pulled down 5 rebounds.
Ashleigh Fossett scored 15 points, while Briauna Nix scored 14 points, and Tasia Bristow scored 12 points. Bristow also handed out 5 assists.
Madison Martin chipped in with 11 points and Ginny Mills scored 10 points.
Bowie State was led by Ashley Davis as she scored 18 points while Ashley Castle chipped in with 15 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Saturday, December 21st when they take on West Virginia Teach at Bluefield State. Tip-off is set for 2:00p.m.
