Glenville, W.Va. – The #12 Lady Pioneers basketball squad extended their winning streak to 11 games after they defeated the Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals at home on Saturday afternoon by a final score of, 97-85.
GSC would take a one point lead at the 14:09 mark of the first half, 10-9, and they would never look back from there on out as they would never trail from their on out in the game.
The Lady Pioneers would cruise a 12 point victory over Wheeling Jesuit, 97-85. GSC has now won 11 straight games on the season.
GSC’s defense caused 23 turnovers while they only turned it over 9 times their selves. The Lady Pioneers scored 31 points off of the Cardinals turnovers.
GSC also outscored Wheeling Jesuit in the paint47 to 39. The Lady Pioneers also won the rebounding battle as they out rebounded WJU 47 to 46.
Kenyona Simmons led the Lady Pioneers in scoring as she scored a game high 20 points. Keyanna Tate also had a great game as she scored 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as she finished with a double double on the night.
Ashleigh Fossett scored 11 points for GSC while Kenyell Goodson chipped in with 10 points.
Tasia Bristow dished out a team high 7 assists; she also scored 7 points on the night.
Wheeling Jesuit was led by Lydia Hyburg as she scored 18 points for the Cardinals.
The Lady Pioneers return to action this Monday, January 13th when they travel to West Liberty. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
